Three macrotrends expected to shape the post-pandemic landscape

Lectures for enterprises in a post-pandemic world

Three important macro-trends are expected to shape the post-pandemic landscape: digitalization, production rebalancing, and industrial greening.  A United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO)’s report emphasizes that countries and their organization will need to consider these when it comes to designing recovery strategies.

According to the report, recovery might be ecologic and inclusive by following a safer and more sustainable development path.  Companies need to accelerate their change processes towards a green industrial sector in order to transform their energetic systems, as indicated by Jeffrey Sachs, President of the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN).  He indeed emphasized on the need to overcome current challenges and move from fossil energy sources to renewable sources and zero-carbon emissions energy.

Colombia is one of those countries moving forward in this sense as suggested by Standard & Poor’s Global’s 2021 Sustainability Index where 14 Colombian companies among diverse sectors rank high because of their sustainability commitment.  The banking Bancolombia group and the food manufacturer Nutresa obtained the Gold Class qualification; then other companies from the construction, oil & gas, banking and retail sectors such as Cementos Argos, Grupo Argos, Grupo de Inversiones Suramericana, Davivienda, Banco de Bogotá, Almacenes Éxito, Ecopetrol, Terpel & Promigas obtained the Silver Class denomination.
